Veins of Sand
07:32
|
|||
Receding—the feeding pools, the reservoir of a dying world.
Where we once gathered, take a drink of nothingness.
This is all we have left to fight for—the drying hole you see below.
When the final foe has fallen, will it hasten back the flow?
Where will I go when the river runs dry?
Not a drop falls from the sky.
I gaze upon this baking clay.
And all is lost in the fray.
The fires burn ‘round the eddy;
the evidence of what this thirst has made in me.
Lost in battle—those once called friends.
The waters fallow, the drought descends.
The crows circle, waiting over head
to eat the offal of the fallen dead.
Dry throat crying for a final sip.
Raspy moan escapes from parched lips.
We lost the love that kept life in these lands.
The drying Earth falls through my hands.
Everything dry.
Now you know
Now you know why.
Where will I go when the river runs dry?
Not a drop fall from the sky.
I miss the sound of running water.
I feel the sand running through my veins.
I miss the sound of running water.
I feel the sand that's coursing through my veins.
I miss the laughter of another.
I seek forgiveness from the one’s I’ve blamed.
What remains?
And nothing now can bring back the rain.

Law of Talion
02:58
|
|||
The law gave me no recourse
Now I take it in my hands
Your penance taken by force
No ultimatum, no demands
An eye for an eye
A limb for a limb
I cry for a cry
Your skin for her skin
And when I found her there,
With all you had done,
A demon tore through me,
The law I lived was gone
All I see
Within this rhythmic madness
Crimson sea
My soul, your skull, mere fragments
A simple child
A life defiled
No creeping doubt
Dare interrupt this
Visceral act
And so I claim my justice
A lifeless husk, the mark of monsters
I linger with you, the father of two corpses
All bear witness, to the sentence I gave
I settle on the stones, in this our shallow grave

Occam's Razor
06:21
|
|||
On our knees
Within this vessel
Not but slaves
Hands worn to the bone
On borrowed time
Digging to find the answer
To your question
Buried beneath chains
At the end of your reins
Keep digging with
Occam’s Razor
No peace in the trenches.
In the shadows of your sentinels
The children of children slaves, born
with one purpose
Simple and defined;
Wait in line ‘til you die
Scrape away the Earth’s
festering surface
It’s there, just dig
The same holes as your kin
A century gone
Between the cracks for all time
the weak seek the divine
Keep cutting with
Occam’s Razor
No peace in the trenches.
In the shadows of your sentinels
I never could remember the places of days past.
Are you near?
I never could remember the faces of days past.
Are you still here?
Within our nightmares
You seek for hope where,
The system failed you
Will not avail you
You’ll keep on searching
While my corpse is burning
My only joy in your constant fear
You rule over me, and all that you see
But you’ll spend your whole life, seeking gods
As you blacken the skies, nothing satisfies
your pawns will never find the answer
My Life
In Vain
Wasted
Searching
And now she is gone
With all I have longed for--buried
in the trenches
your fear will live on
‘til the final dawn
Keep digging with Occam’s Razor
Occam's Razor

Fate Defined
05:06
|
|||
Now, time to decide
Where loyalties lie
Whose name to call
As my body falls
Nightmares lead this mind to falter
Sucking in the scent of slaughter
And fading from this scene, a melody of screams
emerging from the mob, it’s time to pick a god.
No time left.
Searching for a lost design. Wanting only fate defined.
Wading through each façade.
Now it’s time to pick a god.
No time left.
A winding, dark tower
A crumbling path before me
This is the last hour
Wish I could remember
No, time left to decide
Where my loyalties lie
Whose name to call
As my body falls

Anchored
04:56
|
|||
Come away
Come away
You left me
Now find me beneath
You couldn’t stay
To watch the anchor drag me down
You couldn’t wait
To hear my wails buried by waves
The moment came
My aching lungs held out no more
Await the day
Find me on the ocean floor
And then the world
Consumed by waves
Meet me on the ocean floor
And then the world
Consumed
You couldn’t stay
To claim a life wholly ignored
Await the day
Drag my bones back to the shore
How long?
How long?
How long?
Meet me on the ocean floor
How long?
How long?
How long?
Drag my bones back to the shore
Abandoned by all but the burn of the sea in my lungs
How long till you come to find me
Blank eyes peering ever skyward
Ankles anchored to the ocean floor

Wendigo Psychosis
05:57
|
|||
Descending the winter, the source of this disorder.
Now bringing the hunger, upon each brother’s keeper
The nightman is coming, to designate the chosen
They listen, in silence, to hear the name spoken.
One more life to give,
So the others might live
Sole sacrifice
Become the body of Christ
The hunger is growing
The ice never thawing
The winter foreboding
Teeth always are gnawing
Withhold the law
Reveal your straws
We must eat
Bring forth the meat
Will we see
All hope fail?
Will we freeze
In this icy hell?
The hunger is growing
Our movements are slowing
The conscience is burning
The nightmare returning
Within this cold temple, atop the bloodied altar
Now seeking repentance, before the nightly slaughter.
The nightman, returning, to designate the chosen
We listen, in silence, to hear the name spoken.
This time, it’s you.
This time, it’s you.
You'll see us through
This time, it’s you.

Unborn
This mind
A child, beget by the hands of the earth
Defined
Resigned
The son of the ages, an evolving construct of mind.
A tragic flaw, in the architect, his blessed infrastructure slowly picked apart
Why’d you make me in your image?
The source emerges
My role reverses
All wrong within me
This hatred
I find in you--
It’s coming
through to me
Unborn, I’m nothing but clay
You took me
In your hands
And shaped me
Into what you see
Now I see, your stains on everything, the marks left by eager hands,
Crafting, the world around me, all the aftermath is by your plan
All wrong within me
This hatred
I find in you--
It’s coming
Through to me
Unborn, I’m nothing but clay
You took me
In your hands
And shaped me
Into what you see
This twisted
Amalgamation
Remains your
legacy
We are but,
Frail brothers,
sharing unholy
Symmetry
Thus we are made and remain ‘til the day we are slain
All ties undone
Remains, the day’s reverie
Unleashed within each of us
A chance to build our brothers
Begin
|
||||
8. |
||||
I need you
Just as you need me
We share an unholy symmetry
I need you
Just as you need me
I need you
To build me up if just to tear me down

Drink the Nile
04:31
|
|||
When Am Heh rises
He Brings only death
The millions cowering
Are swallowed up in one breath
Will you be hiding
When he will eat you?
Jaws on each horizon
Earth erupts beneath you.
Hear the sound
Drowns you out
No one hears
Your last shout
When Am heh rises
The fissures will unfold
Splitting Cairo straight in two
They fall into the maw below
Feel the earth tremble
As he awakens
With a god’s hunger
Consumes the forsaken
You’re all lost
In the eyes
Of the devourer
A million men makes a meal
Watch them all tumble down
Kingdoms fall, in a gulp
Drink the Nile to wash them down
Drink the Nile
Perish within
Burn
In the pyre of his
Throat you see the sun
Extinguished as he
Reels you in on his
Tongue the fumes melts your
Skin as you all drown
In a black sea of
Writhing old and young
Taken in with the
Tide you find you are
Inside his stomach
All you know has gone dark
When Am Heh rises
He Brings only death
The millions cowering
Are swallowed up in one breath
They kneel before him
Lest the earth begin to swell
The land will rise
The sea will fall
And all you love returns to hell

Unlearned
09:07
|
|||
Atop the summit
A figure in a cloak
Revels In elation
Breathing in human smoke
No ornate epitaph
Preserves the will and whim
No weeping mourner
Left to hum a sullen hymn
Is This Freedom?
Where were your saviors
When hell arrived
To sweep up your children?
No cause would quell the tide
Heard you whisper
Is this freedom?
Lost in crying eyes
On the eve of our demise
And you never woke
Forever lost in human smoke
Forever lost in smoke
Will I remember?
Will I remember?
Your waning smile
your gentle touch
your quickened breath
The final clutch
Will I remember
Anything
A flash of light
The sky a sickened pallor
The earth ignites
We're huddled in the cellar
These thoughts came through
If but to dissipate
Our lives unlearned
As we disintegrate
We saw a shadow on the marshes
A beggar begging for the end
You watched all hope leave my eyes
Nothing left but the question
Will I remember
Your quaking hand?
Atop the summit
A figure in a cloak
Revels In elation
Breathing in human smoke
